Measure the same distance upward from the bottom of your shutters and make a mark on your siding for the next screw.
You do want to be careful not to squish the siding because remember the siding is somewhat soft.
Turn the shutter over.
And so as long as you re careful about the way they attach you certainly can have shutters on top of vinyl.
Repeat for other shutters.
Others may have a different method.
And most of the shutter companies will sell those as part of the shutter too so you certainly can do that.
For shutters with hollow backs add the thickness of the shutter to the lap measurement for the length of the spacers.
Overtightening fasteners during shutter installation can create warping or dimples on the surface of vinyl shutters.
So what i wanted to do is i wanted to put shutters on the house but i m not sure which color or which style.
Spacers should be pre cut to the lap measurement and pre drilled with the same size hole as the shutter.
So i don t really want to do that because if it doesn t work out then i have holes in my siding.
Push shutter locks through the holes in the shutter and into the hole in the wall surface.
Approximately 5 inches from the shutter s top is an ideal location for screws.
Use a hammer to gently tap the fasteners to snug the shutter to the siding.
Repeat this process for each shutter you ll be installing.
Place spacers at hole locations.
But the only way to fasten the shutters is to drill into the siding.
